Graduate Student Researcher Positions, Summer/Fall 2008
Description:
The UC Berkeley Traffic Safety Center (TSC) is seeking Graduate Student Researchers (GSR) for full- or part-time employment during the Summer 2008 with possible continued employment through Fall 2008 to assist with ongoing and developmental research projects, including
(i) GIS mapping of California collision data;
(ii) Motorcycle Ridership Survey;
(iii) Ladder-style Crosswalks; and
(iv) SMART Corridors Pedestrian Safety.
Each of these projects is funded by local, state, or federal agencies with responsibility for transportation safety. Each project will involve some level of interaction with representatives of these agencies. Some of the potential responsibilities and skills and qualifications are listed below:
Responsibilities:
Literature reviews
Work with advisory groups and outside agencies
Review and analyze existing and collected data
Prepare and conduct reports and presentations for TSC staff and affiliates
Conduct field work
Examples of Skills and Qualifications:
Strong writing, communication, and presentation skills
Data management and analysis skills
Ability to work with minimal supervision, work well with a team, and take initiative
Desirable Skills:
Spanish fluency
GIS mapping and analysis skills
